Cooking Instructions

  1. Cook the rice according to the package instructions.
  2. While the rice is cooking, prepare the spinach by sautéing it.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the coconut oil. Swirl to coat the skillet, then add the fresh spinach.
  4. Sauté the spinach for a few minutes until wilted. Add a pinch of salt, then remove the spinach to a clean bowl.
  5. Chop the onion and brown it in the same skillet.
  6. Add the beef mince to the skillet and cook until fully browned.
  7. Add the chilli, garlic, and soy sauce. Stir and cook for about one minute.
  8. Prepare the fresh vegetables. Peel and grate the carrot using a coarse grater. Thinly slice the cucumber and spring onions.
  9. Cook the egg in a separate pan to your preference.

  11. Sprinkle with sliced spring onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Coach’s Notes

  • Bibimbap means “mixed rice” — mix everything together before eating for the authentic experience.
  • Kimchi adds flavour, crunch, and a fermented food source that pairs beautifully with the beef.
  • Fresh vegetables add texture and contrast to the warm rice and beef.
  • For extra heat, add additional chilli or a small amount of gochujang if it fits your meal plan.
  • This recipe works exceptionally well for meal prep — simply store the components separately and assemble when ready to eat.
