Hake - Air Fryer

The air fryer creates a beautifully cooked, flaky hake fillet with minimal effort and no added oil required.

Ingredients

  • 4 hake fillets, approximately 150–180g each
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp dried parsley or mixed herbs
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Pat the hake fillets dry with paper towel.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, herbs, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over both sides of the fish.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C for 3–5 minutes.
  5. Place the hake fillets in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  6. Air fry at 180°C for 8–12 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets.
  7. The fish is cooked when it flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 63°C.
  8. Serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges.

Kaizen Tip

Avoid overcooking hake. Fish continues to cook slightly after being removed from the air fryer, so remove it as soon as it flakes easily with a fork to keep it tender and moist.
