Whole Roast Chicken - Air Fryer
A simple, high-protein roast chicken recipe that delivers juicy meat, crispy skin, and enough leftovers for multiple meals.
Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken (1.5–1.8kg)
- 2 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried mixed herbs or thyme
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 lemon, halved (optional)
- Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs (optional)
Instructions
- Remove the chicken from the refrigerator 20–30 minutes before cooking.
- Pat the chicken dry thoroughly with paper towel.
- Combine the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, herbs, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
- Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the entire chicken, including under the wings and around the legs.
- If using, place the lemon halves and fresh herbs inside the cavity.
- Preheat the air fryer to 180°C for 3–5 minutes.
- Place the chicken breast-side down in the air fryer basket.
- Cook at 180°C for 30 minutes.
- Carefully turn the chicken breast-side up.
- Continue cooking for 25–35 minutes, depending on size, until the thickest part of the thigh reaches an internal temperature of 75°C.
- Remove the chicken and allow it to rest for 10–15 minutes before carving.
