Whole Roast Chicken - Air Fryer

A simple, high-protein roast chicken recipe that delivers juicy meat, crispy skin, and enough leftovers for multiple meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken (1.5–1.8kg)
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried mixed herbs or thyme
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 lemon, halved (optional)
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Remove the chicken from the refrigerator 20–30 minutes before cooking.
  2. Pat the chicken dry thoroughly with paper towel.
  3. Combine the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, herbs, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  4. Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over the entire chicken, including under the wings and around the legs.
  5. If using, place the lemon halves and fresh herbs inside the cavity.
  6. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C for 3–5 minutes.
  7. Place the chicken breast-side down in the air fryer basket.
  8. Cook at 180°C for 30 minutes.
  9. Carefully turn the chicken breast-side up.
  10. Continue cooking for 25–35 minutes, depending on size, until the thickest part of the thigh reaches an internal temperature of 75°C.
  11. Remove the chicken and allow it to rest for 10–15 minutes before carving.
